Manager of Alumni Relations

Summary
The Manager of Alumni Relations plays a pivotal role in the Lycée Français de New York’s (LFNY) Development department. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Manager of Alumni Relations is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs and projects that strategically engage alumni in strengthening the work of the school and provide tangible benefits to alumni, current students and the school. The Manager of Alumni Relations will play a leadership role in redefining and relaunching the school’s efforts to engage its alumni, with an immediate focus on engaging alumni who are five to 20 years out of the school.

The alumni community of the Lycée is diverse, global and highly sophisticated. The community currently numbers approximately 9,400 around the world; all attendees and degreed alumni are counted as alumni of the Lycée Français de New York.

Essential Job Functions
The duties outlined below are considered to be the most significant responsibilities of the Manager of Alumni Relations and are essential for effective performance in this position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategy and Planning (20%)

  • Execute a multi-year strategic plan, with deliverables and benchmarks, for the reconceptualization and launch of the Lycée’s alumni relations effort;
  • Plan, implement and promote alumni programs that support the Lycée’s strategic plan in collaboration with colleagues within Development, the Head of School’s office and throughout the institution; develop and submit for approval by the Head of School and the Director of Development;
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the administrative offices (including, but not limited to Admissions, Development, Vie Scolaire, and the academic divisions of the school) to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the goals of the Lycée;
  • Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys, special projects (e.g. launch of an alumni engagement app), correspondence, in-person meetings, website, postal returns, etc.
  • In time, partner with Development colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni giving;
  • Oversee and balance the budget for Alumni Relations; within the annual program budget, manage existing and/or additional alumni programs, services and communications.


Alumni Engagement (35%)

  • Serving as an ambassador, the Manager of Alumni Relations is charged with securing commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service;
  • Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally;
  • Maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, email blasts, social media, and print publications;
  • Partner with colleagues across the school to plan the growth and accessibility of career networking services for students and alumni;
  • Collaborate closely with development colleagues in increasing support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development-related activities via written contact reports filed in Raiser’s Edge and periodic attendance at prospect management meetings;
  • Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engage them in programs;


Alumni Communications (25%)

  • Oversee online content on social media platforms directed to alumni;
  • Collaborate with Communications to identify alumni to be featured in Lycée publications (print and digital);
  • Conduct annual survey of alumni to aid the Lycée in following up on the academic and professional success of graduates.


Alumni Council (20%)

  • Work closely with the Alumni Council by arranging its meetings and ensuring strong and productive relationships between its members and the academic and administrative leadership;
  • Provide guidance to alumni volunteers to ensure efforts are in line with the school’s policies, procedures and the larger vision for Alumni Relations;
  • Recruit new members of the Alumni Council.


Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • A minimum of six to eight years of professional experience, with four of those in alumni relations, external affairs or a related field, with demonstrated accomplishments in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership. Candidates with a demonstrated track record of success in start-ups or entrepreneurship, in roles that involve extensive customer contact, will also be considered.
  • Extensive experience with Raiser’s Edge or a similar constituent database desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • French language skills (oral and written) required.


Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the school, alumni, other constituents and the public;
  • The demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers;
  • Demonstrably strong writing, oral communication, planning, and organizational skills;
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals;
  • High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information;
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.


Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required by events, meetings and cultivation events.

Database Manager

The Lycée Français de New York (LFNY), a world-leading independent bilingual French K-12, relies deeply on data for all aspects of the school’s life, among which : pedagogical innovation, business operations, marketing and development.

Maintaining data integrity, security, reliability as well as a seamless data flow are key elements of our strategic goals’ achievement.

The Lycée Français de New York is seeking a full-time exempt Database Manager reporting to the Director of Technology.

Responsibilities include :

  • Maintaining accurate data system inventory and database relationship schema
  • Writing, maintaining and enforcing all data-related procedures and protocols, based on school needs and best practices. Ensuring data compliance with legal regulations
  • Auditing processes and controlling data integrity across all databases and advising/taking on preventive/cleaning measures
  • Ensuring data security and redundancy
  • Providing data-oriented support and training on systems, procedures, best practices, reporting and data analysis to all departments
  • Data reporting and business-oriented analysis. Maintaining data and key performance indicator (KPI) dashboard
  • Facilitating new data system’s integration in the existing school’s environment and assisting various departments for new data-related initiatives
  • Creating and maintaining digital student files
  • Coordinating and facilitating data team meetings

Skills and competencies :

Requirements :

  • Master’s Degree in information technology, statistics or a related field and seven years experience in data management.
  • Bilingual French/English
  • SQL, XML, Excel proficiency
  • Experience in corporate data consulting is a plus
  • Blackbaud/ON products experience is a plus

Working Conditions :

  • Some work during extended hours and on weekends is required.

  • Jours: du lundi au vendredi
  • Horaire de cantine/récréations: de 10h30 à 13h
  • Activités extra-scolaires: 15h30 à 17h
  • Le candidat idéal est francophone et a déjà travaillé avec des enfants (moniteur de colonies de vacances, animateur jeunesse). Doit être ponctuel, responsable et énergique.
