College Counseling

At the Lycée Français de New York, giving students the guidance they need to prepare for the future does not stop at the classroom door. The Lycée College Counseling office is devoted to responding thoughtfully to the individual needs of our diverse, international students as they explore the possibilities beyond the Lycée. Our mission is to educate all students about their post-Baccalauréat options, to serve as a trusted resource for advice about the application process, and to empower students in their decision-making. Our office appreciates the individuality of each student and the unique path each one will take toward becoming a successful adult.

The College Counseling office helps to prepare students to apply to colleges, universities, CPGEs (Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles), and other academic programs all over the world.  We provide special expertise in the French, the U.S., the UK, and Canadian application processes.  Each student is encouraged to meet regularly with his or her counselor, starting in January of 11th Grade.

Throughout the year, the College Counseling office offers programs designed to educate students and parents about higher education and the application processes associated with them. College counseling breakfasts and evening programs become available for the 9th and 10th Grade students and their parents. 10th grade students participate in an overnight program with the College Counseling staff and their advisors to discuss leadership, careers, and to learn more about college counseling. In 11th and 12th Grades, students and parents benefit from multiple programs and workshops until applications are filed and decisions about a post-Baccalauréat path are made.

Parents and students are welcome to contact the College Counseling office at any time for advice, information, and encouragement.
