We want to see students develop a love for the game - to enjoy, to learn, and to develop friendships and bonds that will last a lifetime.” - Athletic Director John Burpoe.

Participation in sports fosters respect for others and for oneself, perseverance, leadership and teamwork, all vitally important life skills. Since the Lycée’s move to its new facility in 2003, athletics have taken a central role in its educational core. We strive to get as many students involved as possible, with over 400 students playing on over 40 athletic teams. Our teams have won more and more championships over the past few years.

The Lycée building houses a brand-new fitness center, two gymnasiums, and a rock-climbing wall. In addition to the state-of-the-art home facility, Lycée athletic teams have access to many other sites, including the 92nd Street Y, Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, Octagon Field on Roosevelt Island, and the Central Park North Meadow, among others. Many of our coaches are former professional athletes themselves, coming to us from the top of their fields.
